Privacy Policy
This is the short version: Paddock Notes does not run a tracking-pixel-and-ad-network business. We collect the minimum information needed to run the publication, and we do not share it.
What we collect
Reader analytics. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, a privacy-respecting analytics service. Cloudflare Web Analytics does not set cookies, does not collect personal data, does not fingerprint visitors, and does not build behavioural profiles. It records aggregated page views, referrers, browser, country, and device — all anonymous. We can see that an article was read 1,200 times from Germany; we cannot see who read it.
Newsletter subscribers. If you subscribe to The Briefing, we collect your email address and store it in SendGrid Marketing Campaigns. We use it only to send Paddock Notes newsletters. We do not share it, sell it, or use it for any third-party advertising. You can unsubscribe with one click from any email.
Server logs. Our hosting provider (Replit) keeps short-term server logs (IP address, request URL, timestamp) for security and operational purposes. These are not used for analytics or personalisation, are not shared with third parties, and are rotated according to Replit's standard policy.
What we don't do
- We don't run Google Analytics, Meta pixels, TikTok pixels, LinkedIn Insight, or any other behavioural-tracking infrastructure.
- We don't sell, rent, or share newsletter subscriber email addresses.
- We don't use marketing automation tools that profile readers across sites.
- We don't run programmatic ad networks.
- We don't accept third-party content recommenders (Outbrain, Taboola, etc.) and we don't plan to.
Cookies
We do not set tracking cookies. We may set short-lived first-party cookies for technical purposes (signed-in admin sessions, in Phase 2). Those cookies are not used for any analytics or marketing purpose. The cookie notice at the bottom of the page exists to be transparent about even minimal cookie use.
Your rights
You can:
- Unsubscribe from any newsletter with the one-click link in every email.
- Request a copy of any data we hold on you by emailing editor@paddocknotes.net.
- Request deletion of your subscriber data; we'll remove it within 30 days and confirm in writing.
If you are in the EU, UK, or California, the rights above plus any local statutory rights apply (GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA respectively). Contact editor@paddocknotes.net to exercise them.
Changes to this policy
We update this policy when our practice changes. Material changes will be noted at the top of this page with the date of change. The current version was published 2026-04-30.
