What happened
  • Antonelli started 19th after a power unit grid penalty and won his home Grand Prix.
  • Charles Leclerc crashed out on the opening lap and the race was red flagged for barrier repairs.
  • Under the Virtual Safety Car for Lance Stroll's stopped car, Antonelli and Verstappen pitted for fresh tyres; Russell stayed out on the hard set he took at the red flag and lost the lead late.
  • Pierre Gasly took his first career pole position and finished seventh.
  • Sergio Perez took a 5 second time penalty for failing to follow the Race Director's instructions, Stewards' Document 64.
  • The classification is provisional. Document 70 carries the note: Subject to notice of intention to appeal by Audi Revolut F1 Team against Stewards' Document 69.
